Tournament Results

One year ago, Duluth Bass Club fished Lake Sinclair under similar conditions and outcome was nearly the same. The name’s at the top of the leader are slightly different. Comparing the two tournaments the top catches were nearly identical, and so were the winning patterns.

This year’s tournament produced a 3-lb gap between the top five teams. A survey of the landscape would surely produce a few stories of the ones that got away. 27 boats fished including 3 guest teams; 55 bass were weighed, 6 limits and 1.45 lb avg. weight/bass.

There was NO winner in the Terminator sponsorship tackle pack......Carl Gessner - Tony Combs had a mental lapse and were unable to produce any Terminator products tied on any rods during Gene's late day inspection....Too Bad guys.....you will have to bear the rash of crap from everyone over this since you earned it.

Carl Gessner caught the tournament’s Big Bass weighing by Sinclair standards a meager 3.27 lbs. Carl worked a Norman Thin-N around the grass lines and shallow water docks and caught his prize in less than 5-ft. of water.

Michael Thomas – Albert Little laid claim to tournament honors by besting everyone with a good spanking to surely keep the Dec grand finale interesting. Michael and Albert’s five fish limit flattened the scales to 10.18. The key to their success were rattle traps, crank-baits, and working a jig all in the 8’ or less water depths. MT & Albert pulled within 1.5 lbs of the fall season points lead with the final tourney in 2-weeks where fall champions will be crowned.

Finishing second with another solid limit, Dick and Matt Perron’s limit pressed the scale to 8.49. To even things out a tad, Matt laid some claim to the tournament’s 3^rd big bass weighing in at 3.01. Their technique was working shad-raps and jigs all day long in the 10’ or less depths.

Mike Haddad and Joe Yurina took home the third place prize. Mike and Joe’s limit of 7.78 came on chug-bugs, blk/blue jigs, and Red-Bug finesse worms. Mike noted; “we culled through 2 limits to weigh this monstrous sack”.

Forth place; David McAdams and Jeff Atcheson’s five weighed 7.34 taken on 5” GP lizard’s around docks in the 10-12’ depths.

Fifth place went out to Royce Ingle and Lamar Rainey with their limit of 7.07, caught on Texas rigged green pumpkin worms fishing the 10’ depths in open water areas.

Weather Conditions: Weather was never a factor – just a nice late Nov day with morning lows near 40 and daytime highs in the 50’s with light winds and light stain in the creeks from the recent rains.

Looking Ahead - The Dec tournament is a visit to Lake Lanier which is considered our home lake and the spotted bass capital of the world these days. A super great location for the club to wrap up the fall fishing season and determine the club points champions. Good Luck to all.
