More Tournament Weigh-In Scenes
Sunday
- 16th, the Duluth
Bass Club fished Lake Sidney
Lanier. A 33 boat Tournament field fished in some excellent January
conditions. The mild Dec-Jan weather appeared to have many excellent fish
catching patterns working which were to the liking of everyone’s strengths.
The fish caught ranged from 2-45 ft depths on a wide variety of baits in
January should just about have accommodated all…and appears it did.
There were over twenty 3 lb+ magnums and several 4-lb+ “toads”
weighed which never got a mere mention in our T-report.
Big Bass honors
for the tournament was a 7.03-lb’er
caught by Josh Petty fishing a ¾
oz Hopkins spoon in the 15-ft depths over a 30 ft bottom.
#2 BB honors went to Dale
Ingle with a 4.49 Spot caught
on a sand worm in 9-ft of brush. #3 BB
was Steve Anglin with at 4.31
lb spot on a drop-shot rig in 45-ft of water.
Tournament honors
went to the team of Steve Hicks –
Josh Petty with a solid 5 fish limit weighing 17.01 lb. Steve
– Josh’s pattern was spooning
over the tree-tops in the 30-32 ft
depths in the Chestatee river area just above the Little Hall ramp. Josh said
“it was tough - without my big bite, we may not have even received a check
with the catch the club recorded”.
Milling
out Second place was Eddie
Krauth - Bryan Ashworth with 5 quality Lanier Spots weighing 14.84
lb. Bryan quickly pointed out they caught good keepers early on CB in the
5-10-ft depths; then worked T-Rig watermelon candy finesse worms in the 15-30
ft depths.
Justin
Still - William Wilson carved
out third with 5 good spots
weighing 13.60 lb. Justin - William stayed in the main lake and kept the boat
positioned in 40-45 ft of water and worked spoons and the popular “Fish-Head
Spin”.
Royce
- Dale Ingle with
5 fish weighing 13.41 lb. hammered
out fourth and Dale had one magnum
weighing 4.49 lbs. Dale noted all
their fish always fell to a sand finesse worm fished by working 9-20-ft deep
brush piles on the lower end.
Fifth
place
went to Scott Spoonamore - Mike Ratteree with a limit weighing 13.09
lbs. and included a 4.26 lb. magnum. Scott noted all their fish were caught on the Fish Head Spin
and drop-shot rig worked in the 30-ft depths.
Sixth
place went
to Joe Yurina – Mike Haddad with their solid limit weighing 11.40
lb. Joe noted, we
stayed with our Christmas holiday tournament patterns working shallow
water CB up-river and watermelon
creepy crawlers on 3/16 oz jig-heads in the 18-22 ft depths down lake.
Sllooowwww was the key for everything, and all the river fish were caught in
less than 2’ of water just running the shoreline in the stained water
hitting every piece of cover you could find.

WEATHER
CONDITIONS: With a forecast of sunny and a
high of 54 degrees for Sunday, anglers enjoyed a beautiful relaxing day with
water temps stable at 51-53 degrees. Wind
became a factor late in the day as 25 mph arose.

Month: Duluth Bass Club heads to Lake
Sinclair on February 20th
for the second tournament stop on the spring circuit.
The monthly meeting will be at Bass Pro Shops in Duluth on Tuesday,
